  • Kites = fun

So, we had nothing planned this Sunday. No family commitments, no clubs ….. absolutely nothing! how lovely is that? ….. don’t get me wrong, I love my social calendar being full to the brim, but the odd chilled out weekend, is appreciated and enjoyed!

So, with nothing on, we headed to Beacon Hill for a bit of kite flying! It took Leila a good 40 minutes to warm to the idea, as unfortunately our kite was a little on the weak side, and that scared her …. but she got there in the end … xx

  • Leila’s 8th birthday!

I guess every parent is the same, EVERY YEAR, but wow!! I now have a daughter of 8!! How the hell did that happen? It has literally flown by!

So, Leila could not decide on what she wanted to do for her birthday this year, which isn’t actually very different to most years, but she then approached me one morning and asked for a short list of ideas! No pressure then!!

    So I suggested a few;

    • A Build-A-Bear party- nope, too babyish!
    • A disco in a hall – yes!! she was quite up for this, but I then quickly realised I would need to be very involved in this scenario, so found a million reasons to not do this, totally putting Leila off!!
    • A bowling party – nope, did that last year.
    • Cinema – couldn’t get long term dates on line so no way of organising
    • A pamper party? – Yes!!!! Yes!!!! Yes!!!!

Feeling chuffed that we had finally made a decision, I then quickly had a mild panic attack (the highs and lows of children’s party planning!!), how the hell was I going to find said Pamper Party Planner with only a month to go?

Anyway, after endless googling (which wasn’t as painful as it sounds, as most of this was achieved sat by a pool in Mauritius with a cocktail in hand!!), I came across the wonderful ladies at http://www.trulyscrumptiouspamperparties.com and they were available!!!

I have to say, this was literally the easiest party I have ever hosted, the ladies took complete control and kept the girls entertained for their whole 2 hour slot. The sun even made an appearance and seeing as Leila’s birthday is historically the worst weather day of the year, it was a very pleasant surprise.

Anyway, the girls absolutely loved it, myself and Steve loved the fact they were in control (even though Steve did look extremely uncomfortable at most points, 7 girls, 3 women and a pamper party is not Steve’s comfort zone) I would highly recommend their services.

Here are a few photos from the day ….

It was such an amazing day!! A massive thank you to Lisa and Zoe, I am very sure I will be seeing you quite soon!!

  • Wellie Walking | The Chase

We literally had nothing planned this weekend, (apart from the umpteen kids clubs of course!), which was actually such a pleasant change from the recent madness surrounding the Christmas festivities. But after a weekend of only pottering around, I did feel we needed to get out and stretch our legs, that or irritate each other more and more as the day unfolded. So what better way to burn some energy that some good old-fashioned wellie walking!! Made all the more fun today by the exceptionally deep, squelchy puddles that even us adults struggled with at times!! Needless to say, I had to strip the kids down to their knickers before allowing them back into the car!

Week one of my 365Grateful project …

  • I do like a mince pie!

I haven’t posted on here for ages, I have been very lucky to have been so busy with other families photography projects over the last few months, but it does mean I’ve neglected to add any of my own! (not that there’s a milestone or memory that I haven’t had with my camera by my side!!)

So here we are, its that time of year again and I do like to try and squeeze in a little bit of baking, in fact, I actually always find that this is the moment I tend to get that warm, Christmassy feeling! Stick on a Christmas movie or a bit of Buble and I’m there!! And, yes, I know! a few mince pies is hardly classed as baking, but my kids are happy all the same. We do normally do the whole Christmas cake making event (even though none of us really like it, but I did with my mum every Christmas, so we do it for the fact “its just tradition!!”), but we massively ran out of time this year!

    Anyway, here we go …..
